These three mountains in the far eastern reaches of Turkey have been climbed by very few foreign trekkers. The three mountains are the highest points in the region and provide impressive views across Turkey, Iran, Armenia and Nakhichevan.
One of the highlights of the area is the beautiful wildflowers and native birds that appear once the snow has melted.
The region is also known for its stunning Armenian and Seljuk ruins and the hospitality of the local Kurdish people.
Mount Nemrut has wonderful volcanic lakes and hot springs to swim in and also provides for a great introduction to this exciting area.
Mount Suphan stands at an impressive 4,434 meters and overlooks the ancient Seljuk fortress of Adilcevaz and also commands an impressive view of the massive Lake Van. Mount Suphan is a fairly easy climb and serves as a great acclimatization fort the harder and higher trek to the summit of Mount Ararat.
